What is Identity Theft?
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the term identity theft refers to "all types of crime in which someone wrongfully obtains and uses another person's personal data in some way that involves fraud or deception..."

How can identity theft affect me?
Victims of identity theft can experience problems with their credit, their finances, their employment, and even their personal assets.  Obtaining professional help to get your affairs back in order can be time-consuming, stressful, and expensive, costing you hundreds - even thousands - of dollars.

IDSafeChoice can help.
You will have a professional Identity Theft Recovery Advocate who is assigned to you and will work on your behalf to take all the necessary steps to recover your good name - no matter how long it takes.

How is IDSafeChoice different from other plans?
Some companies offer a service that you can purchase which will provide you with a forms packet and telephone assistance; however, you still do all the legwork.  With IDSafeChoice, your personal Advocate will be there for you until it can be shown that your name has been restored.

Who is enrolled?
Members, over the age of 21, that are primary on the account, are automatically enrolled.

How much does it cost?
Only $0.95 per month provides you and your family - three generations - with fully-managed recovery services.  This includes coverage for you, your spouse or domestic partner, your dependents with the same permanent address, living with you or in assisted living or hospice, or deceased 12 months or less.

How do I opt-out?
Members who chose to opt-out of the program, or members who have multiple accounts and need to opt-out of all but one, can fill out the Opt-Out Form and return it to SFCU.

What does IDSafeChoice include? 
  • No registration - members, over the age of 21, that are primary on the account, are automatically enrolled.
  • Identity Theft Awareness Program will help you learn how to better protect yourself and your family now, before identity theft strikes. 
  • If you have an identity theft event occur, you will receive:
    • Assignment of your own Personal Recovery Advocate
    • Online or overnight delivery of a Fraud Recovery Package
    • Preparation, filing and follow-up for all necessary documentation to affected agencies, financial institutions and businesses
    • Fraud Alerts and Credit Review with all three credit bureaus
    • Work with Federal and local law enforcement
    • Progress reports and post-recovery follow-up for 12 months following restoration
    • A confirmation of your return to pre-identity theft status - no matter how long it takes

Are there other plans?
Members can get additional plans, IDSafeChoice Plus-Individual for $5.95 per month or IDSafeChoice Plus-Family for $9.95 per month, by enrolling here.

Can I opt back into the program after I have opted out?
Yes, you can opt back into the program by filling out the opt-in form.  Your coverage will begin when you are re-enrolled in the program.

Terms & Conditions
  1. Services are provided to the individual(s) in Sponsor's Covered Group; businesses do not qualify for this offer.  Benefits are non-transferable.
  2. Family coverage extends to the covered individuals, their spouse or domestic partner, dependents up to age 25 with the same permanent residence address, including students and military, and parents of the covered individual with the same permanent residence address, or living in hospice, assisted living, nursing home or deceased for 12 months of less.
  3. Benefits have no cash equivalent, are non-transferable, and non-cancelable (except in the event of termination of the Group Plan.)  Provider Services do not cover financial losses of any kind arising from the identity theft.
  4. Eligibility for recovery services is based on ID theft events that are discovered and reported to the service provider on or after the effective date of the program and during the eligibility period.
  5. Identity Theft is defined as fraud that involves the use of a consumer's name, address, social security number, bank or credit/debit card account number, or other identifying information without the knowledge of the consumer, and such information is used to commit fraud or other crimes.
  6. Provider reserves the right to refuse or terminate services if it is deemed that the participating plan member is committing fraud or other illegal acts, making untrue statements, or failing to perform his/her portion of the recovery plan.  Provider will not refuse or terminate services to a plan member solely due to the complexity of a case.  Provider cannot be be held responsible for failure to provide or for delay in providing services when such failure or delay is caused by conditions beyond its control.
  7. Service Provider does not provide credit counseling or repair to credit which legitimately belongs to the plan member.
  8. Services are only available to residents of the United States.  Identity recover is only performed with agencies and institutions in the United States, or territories where U.S. law applies.
  9. Identity theft services are provided by Merchants Information Solutions, Inc.  An alternate service provider may be substituted at the discretion of the Sponsor.
